“Stand Out or Miss Out: How to get ahead in college admissions 2025”

Tuesday, June 3rd at 3:00 pm EST

The college admissions landscape continues to evolve, with shifting test-optional policies, changing institutional priorities, and increasing competition at top schools. For families applying in 2025–2026, the uncertainty can be overwhelming.

In this free webinar, Alex and I will break down what’s changed in this year’s application cycle and what it really takes to stand out.

You’ll gain insights from real case studies of successful applicants from the past year, explore fresh data from higher ed, and leave with practical, proven strategies your family can apply immediately.

If you’re a freshman, then your jobs this month are:

  • Review Final Grades: Take a good look at your final report card. Where did you succeed, and where could you use more support? Use the summer to shore up any weaker areas and build confidence going into sophomore year.

  • Volunteer: Get involved in a cause that matters to you. Whether formal or informal, volunteering helps you understand your community better and builds important life skills. Keep a record of hours and reflections—you’ll thank yourself later.

  • Study Skill Reflection: Now that your first year of high school is behind you, what did you learn about how you learn? Think about what strategies worked and which ones didn’t. How can you approach things differently next year?

  • Summer Reading: Start and finish your summer reading assignments early. Get them out of the way so you can fully enjoy your break—and still have time to revisit them before school starts again. If you’re not ready to dive in, create a reading calendar now and stick to it.

  • Explore Interests: Summer is the perfect time to try new things. Whether it’s art, music, coding, a sport, or something else entirely, the goal is to discover what excites you. Keep track of what you like (or don’t)—it helps later!
